APC, Police Conspiring To Stop My Election Petition – Adeleke
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has accused the police of conniving with the ruling All Progressives Congress to prevent him from going ahead with his petition against the candidate of the ruling party, Gboyega Oyetola.
Adeleke said this in a statement in Osogbo on Tuesday. The statement came following the court order which directed the Inspector General of Police to produce Adeleke in court on October 31 for arraignment over the allegation of examination malpractices against him and four other persons.
He said, “The police are in collusion with the APC in the plot to implicate me on trumped-up charges as a way of disrupting the commencement of our petitions before the Election Petitions TribunaI.
“Their plan was originally to arrest me before the election so that I won’t be able to effectively participate in the governorship election but court order and interventions stopped the evil agenda. Now that the APC knew the game is up and the stolen mandate is about to be retrieved, the party in collusion with the police have perfected a fresh plot to distract, harass and intimidate me.
“Nigerians are aware that the so-called examination case is politically motivated. The public is aware of the many cases of intimidation and attacks I have been subjected to before during and after the election. We stand by the people and we will not surrender their mandate to anti-democratic forces.”
We won’t accept less than N30,000 minimum wage - Labour
A Labour leader, Mr. Joe Ajaero, said yesterday that the organised labour would never sign any agreement with the Federal Government on new National Minimum Wage, which is less than N30,000.
Ajaero, who is United Labour Congress (ULC) President, said in Lagos that the tripartite committee agreed that N30,000 would be paid at the end of its negotiation as the new Minimum Wage for workers.
“N24,000 can never be new Minimum Wage for workers.
If the government pays it, then it is an award,” Ajaero added. He said it was sad that N30,000 was adopted by the tripartite committee, but the representatives of government announced N24,000.
The ULC leader insisted that the organised labour would stand against it and would not sign any document, which does not reflect the true deliberation by the tripartite committee.
He added that the committee had concluded its meeting on the new wage and labour was expecting the government to invite them to sign an agreement on the decision.
“No more meetings. A date has been fixed to sign an agreement on the figure agreed. On that day, if the amount is not what the tripartite committee agreed, the organised labour will not sign,” he said.
On November 27, 2017, President Muhammadu Buhari approved the appointment of a 30-member tripartite National Minimum Wage Committee for the negotiation of a new national minimum wage.
Labour collectively demanded for N65,000 per month as the new Minimum Wage for all workers as harmonised by the organised labour.
However, after many delays on reaching an agreement on the figure, the NLC, TUC and the ULC on September 26 went on a two-day nationwide warning strike, to protest government’s delay on the wage by not allowing the committee conclude its job.

Ways To Overcoming Negative Influence And Peer Pressure
In the world we find ourselves today, we need people around us to live. Whether good or bad, we’ll surely come across different people and we’ll surely be influenced by them in one way or the other. What do we do about overcoming negative influence? Or at least, how do we fight unwanted peer pressure? Read this article
First of all, please note that not all influences from people are bad. In fact, some people are helping you by influencing you so it’s up to you to define negative influences. This article however, would teach ways to overcoming negative influence.
Know what is negative
Firstly, you need to define bad. To you, what is bad? Everyone have their own definition of negativity. Some people may find pressure in doing something and others won’t. It is beneficial that you have your own unique definition.
What makes you define it as negative?
Make sure you’re not taking a stance because others are taking it. Don’t do things because others do it. To be specific, don’t like or hate things because other people do so. You need to find out the real and genuine reason why you label something as bad. Otherwise, you may be blinding your eyes to more options life has to offer.
Know your weaknesses
Everyone have weaknesses through which others can easily convince them. What are your weaknesses? Have you ever being convinced to do something you initially wouldn’t? If so, how were you convinced? Review your past to find out your weaknesses. When you know your weaknesses, you’ll easily avoid negative influence
Know who you are
Knowing who you are and what you stand for would make you easily say no when in pressure. Say: i am me because these are my values and others can’t shake my stance. You need to know yourself.
Rid off negative peers
You must know that there are more than 17 billion people presently on earth. Getting rid of bad friends would open the way for even more friends that’ll be of more value for you. Take the initiative and remove negative people from your life.
Stay cautious
In the popular Nickelodeon cartoon ‘penguins of Madagascar’, Skipper said that a friend is defined as an enemy who hasn’t strike yet. Well, i wouldn’t say that’s true but when i view it in another way, it means we should stay cautious. Why? As early written, everyone have their own definition of bad and negative. Even your best friend may find pleasure in doing what you wouldn’t want to. Keep being cautious

Brilliant Female Senator, Olujimi Takes Over Akpabio's Seat As NASS Resumes
The new Senate minority leader, Senator Biodun Olujimi (PDP, Ekiti South), on Tuesday took over her seat, having replaced the former minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, who recently left the PDP for APC.
Olujimi had been the deputy minority whip.
Since Akpabio’s departure to the APC, his position became vacant, although the Senate had been on recess until its resumption yesterday.
At the resumption of plenary, Olujimi was seen occupying Akpabio’s seat, a development that gave credence to speculations that she was nominated to take over as minority leader.
She becomes the second woman to hold the position after Senator Florence Ita-Giwa who held the position briefly in the 4th Senate.

APC Reps To Impeach Dogara When House Reconvenes
Hon. Peter Akpatason, representing Akoko-Edo in the House of Representatives, has disclosed that loyal members of the APC in the House will carry out the party’s instruction on Speaker Yakubu Dogara as soon as they resume.
Akpatason spoke to journalists in Benin on Wednesday, against the backdrop of the recent defection of the speaker to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He said that when the house reconvened, “the needful” would be done regarding the leadership of both chambers of the National Assembly.
The lawmaker however emphasised that whatever that would be done to address the issue, would be according the law of land.
According to the former NUPENG President, it is an aberration for a member of another political party to continue to be speaker of the House of Representatives.
“We, as party loyalists, will carry out any instruction we get from the party. We will study the situation when we get back. Whatever the situation is will be what we will react to.
“We cannot be happy to have a speaker that belongs to another party. It is an aberration and has to be treated as such,” he said.
